The Adelaide Desalination Project intake tunnel TBM (Nessie) reached her final resting place on 1st September 2010, completing the TBM tunnelling for the project. The next job in the intake tunnel will be entombment of the TBM and the construction of the cross connection tunnel to the base of the marine intake riser. Project Manager Gwyn Jones thanked and congratulated the whole tunnelling team for their dedication and perseverance through, at times difficult conditions, to reach this milestone. During its 1415m journey the TBM achieved a best days production of 30m and a best weekly production of 120m (in a five day week).
