News : Costa Concordia recovery

PSD has completed its supply of desanders to Fugro Seacore in support of the drilling operation that forms part of the recovery of the Costa Concordia, which capsized in shallow waters off Giglio, Italy in January 2012, resulting in the death of 32 people.  Falmouth based UK drilling contractor, Fugro Seacore, were engaged by the salvage company to drill 21 sub-sea piles in to granite, to form the foundations for sub-sea platforms on to which the vessel will be rolled prior to re-floating.  The vessel lies in a protected marine environment and two of PSD's SM400SDP desanders were on board the salvage vessel Micoperi 30 for the purpose of removing excavated cuttings from the circulation fluid before returning it to the sea.  The salvage operation is being undertaken by American salvage firm Titan and Italian marine engineering company Micoperi.
